This step allows you to save, print, and publish your crossword. You can still go back and change settings by
using the back button. There are four sets of options in this step; to get to them
all, use the tabs at the top.
- Save crossword tab: On this tab, you can save the crossword puzzle you just finished, as well as the
word list, if you did not save the word list when you created it. Usually, it is not necessary to save the
word list, because you can use an existing crossword puzzle file in place of a word list — EclipseCrossword
will use the same words from the previous puzzle.
- Print crossword tab: On this tab, you can print various parts of the crossword puzzle, including the
blank grid, the answer key, and the clues. Read the description next to each link to see what each one does.
The crosswords will be printed to your default printer. To change the settings for your default printer,
use the Printers control panel, which can be found in My Computer or Control Panel. For information on how
to do this, refer to the instructions that came with your printer.
- Save as web page tab: On this tab, there are various options for saving this crossword puzzle as
a web page. You can create both standard, non-interactive crossword puzzles that your visitors can print
out and enjoy, and you can also create interactive crossword puzzles that your visitors can play right on
your web page. Read the description next to each link to see what type of page it will produce. Note that
a Java applet crossword requires a browser that supports Java 1.1, such as Netscape or Internet Explorer, versions
3 and later. If you use this type of puzzle, make sure that you also upload the Java applet's .class file, named
EclipseCrossword.class, to your website as well. The dHTML crossword only works on Internet Explorer 5 or later.
- Publish crossword tab: On this tab, you can export various types of other files that you can use in
word processing and desktop publishing programs. Clues are exported in rich text format (rtf), which almost
all programs can read. The crossword grid can be exported in Windows metafile (wmf) or Postscript (EPS) formats,
whichever one is more convenient for you. If you check the box above these options, a crossword answer key
will be created instead of a blank grid. If you want both files, you will need to export the blank grid, then
check this box, and export a second time to a different file.
When you are finished, click the Close link to close EclipseCrossword, or click the Start Over link to begin a new
crossword puzzle.
